Our aviation camps are a good way for kids to learn more about aviation, and we offer two camp options to choose from. Our FAA certified Instructors will teach them introduction to aerodynamics and what makes an airplane fly. After their ground school session, they will get to apply their classroom knowledge in our redbird simulator. Day 2 consists of a field trip to Lyon Air Museum to see all the classic war birds followed by a tour of a Cessna 172 on the tarmac. Day 3 has them in our aviation workshop, learning how pilots calculate flight planning, aviation weather, and basic systems of an airplane, and then it’s graduation day. They will attempt to land a Cessna on an aircraft carrier in our redbird simulator. All simulator time is logged in an actual pilot logbook by the instructor and counts towards their private pilots license.

We introduced our summer camp for 2020 but due to COVID-19 lockdowns, we were forced to postpone the camp. We re-introduced the camp for summer of 2022 and sold out completely. It was a huge hit for the students. We will be opening registration for summer 2023 in January 2023. Here are some of the photos of the 2022 camp. We hope to see everyone there for 2023!

AVIATION CAMP: OPTION 1

Day 1 - 10AM-12PM

• 1 Hour Ground School
• 1 Hour Aviation Themed Classroom Exercises

Day 2 - 10AM-1PM

• Field Trip to Lyon Air Museum
• Preflight Inspect a Cessna 172 on the flight line

Day 3 - 10AM-1PM

• Fly our Redbird Simulator with a FAA certified Instructor
• Graduation Ceremony

AVIATION CAMP: OPTION 2
$1,295 USD

CAMP DATES (OPTION 2):

  • June 16-18, 2023
  • July 21-23, 2023

Day 1 - 10AM-1PM

• Classroom Ground School
• Fly the Redbird flight simulator

Day 2 - 10AM-1PM

• Field Trip to Lyon Air Museum
• Fly a Cessna 172 with a FAA certified flight instructor

Day 3 - 10AM-1PM

• Fly a Cessna 172 with an FAA certified flight instructor (second flight)
• Graduation Ceremony

Included in the aviation camp: Every student will receive an OC Flight Lessons Aviation Camp T-Shirt, a FAA Logbook with instructor signature for Redbird simulator time and/or flight time, and entry to Lyon Air Museum is included at no additional fee, and a Graduation Certificate.

Aviation Camp is restricted to ages 8-16. Only 6 bookings per date will be accepted.
